The star of the show, so to speak, Peter Crombie took a bit of a knock from a recalcitrant golf ball and was reanimated by his mad-professor father. As a zombie, he can see ghosts and other undead things, including his best friend, Maximus, who was once a vampire. Peter is forever fighting off the affections of his annoying neighbour, Maisie Bruce. It appears that dying did nothing to deter her advances. Peter, along with the rest of the gang, decides to take on the evils of the neighbourhood and fight the things that go bump in the night, as long as it doesn't interfere with Coronation Street.
Despite the strong name, Maximus is something of a coward. Once a vampire - and now a vampire-ghost - Maximus latches onto Peter like a hungry leech and agrees to help take down the baddies of the world. Maximus hates Maisie Bruce almost as much as Peter (though not quite as much as her own mother) and is often sarcastic toward her. Trevor, the capuchin monkey, is one of Maximus' closest friends, and the poo tossed from Trevor's cage into Maximus' face is, he thinks, a sign of affection. Maximus was turned into a vampire by Lilith Von Worst back in a time before colour was invented.
As Maisie Bruce is visually appalling, we've taken certain liberties with her portrait (left). Maisie is the proud pothethor of a thtupendouth lithp. When talking to her, it is advised to carry a small towel. She is what is known by the police as a "Stalker" and will stop at nothing to get her hands - and lord knows what else - on her beloved Petey. She doesn't help the boys fight crime as much as she just tags along, lubricating the floor in front of her with her endless poem recitals.
Yeah, so he's a monkey...don't be...speciesest? Trevor is the assistant to Peter's father, David. Most mad-professors have an Igor, but a monkey will do just as well and, if you can get over the scattered poop and hairs blocking the plughole, they're just as useful around the house. Takes a shine to Maximus, but only because he's sick and tired of mixing potions all day long. He joins the rest of the gang in their fight against evil, and is always there when Peter needs a hand (as they are much smaller than his own and can fit into tight places).
In Peter Crombie Vs. The Grampires, Mr Drake moves into an old people's home. The other residents aren't sure about him. Should old people have fangs? Well, as you can probably guess, the blancmange hits the fan and Mr. Drake reveals himself as none other than Count Dracula on a visit (exile) from Transylvania, but not before he's sunk his teeth into so many bingo-wings and necks, the whole home is soon thirsty for blood.
Lilith Von Worst
She's mean, she's older than Bruce Forsythe, and she loves a jam sandwich (as you can see from the picture). Lilith Von Worst is an ancient actress. She befriends Maisie Bruce during an amateur performance, but Lilith only wants one thing, and that's the apocalypse. She is usually accompanied by big, burly minders (also vamps) leading some people to believe she is as famous as, say, Miley Cyrus, or even Danni Minogue!
David and Judith Crombie
Peter's parents. David is the maniac responsible for their son's reanimation. Judith finds it hard to come to terms with the whole thing, as you might expect. Whenever Peter enters the room, she counts the exits. One too many George Romero films has left her believing her son will develop a taste for human flesh. This is, of course, entirely possible, as they discover when Peter is late for one of his nightly injections.
